Chiropractic
Chiropractors are spine, muscle and nervous system experts that are trained to prevent, diagnose and treat a variety of musculoskeletal conditions. The goal of chiropractic care is to help relieve pain and restore function in many areas of the body. Chiropractic treatment may consist of joint manipulation and mobilization, as well as soft tissue therapy, medical acupuncture, therapeutic exercise, nutritional and lifestyle advice. Common conditions I treat include: knee pain, low back pain, neck pain and headaches, shoulder pain, muscle sprains/strains and sports injuries.
Massage Therapy
Massage therapy consists of applying fixed or movable pressure to relieve and alleviate pain, reduce stress, improve circulation, enhance physical performance and promote relaxation. Massage Therapy is used to treat inflammatory conditions such as, arthritis and tendonitis; headaches and migraines; muscle spasms, sprains and strains; sport injuries, back and neck pain; circulatory and respiratory problems; pre and post-natal discomfort and can be used to assist in post-injury and post-surgical rehabilitation. In addition, massage therapy gives us an opportunity enhance our emotional well-being by helping us pause our face paced lives and instead attune to the needs of our body.
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapists study the science of movement. They learn how to pinpoint an injury’s root causes. Physiotherapy can be beneficial if you have an injury, or chronic pain that affects how you function everyday. A doctor may refer you to physiotherapy after surgery such as a hip replacement, or an event such as a heart attack or stroke.
Physiotherapists focus on both prevention and rehabilitation. Treatment can be for problems caused by injury, disease or disability. Some examples include joint and muscle pain, arthritis, pelvic issues, loss of mobility because of trauma to the brain or spine, or due to diseases such as Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis and even pain, swelling, stiffness and loss of muscle strength, for example during cancer treatment, or palliative care.
Danette will assess your area of complaint and help design an individualized care plan to manage and treat it. Her treatment approach includes a combination of manual therapy and exercise prescription e to ensure accurate diagnosis and a speedy recovery.
